Fiber Optic Adapter, also known as fiber coupler and mating sleeve, is used for connection and coupling between optical fiber connectors.

The fiber optic adapter can be inserted into the same or different fiber optic connectors. Fiber optic adapters that can be inserted into different connectors are also called hybrid adapter or converter adapter.
